Fill It With Bucket List Love
A bucket list a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime.
Here are several tips we found on the Science of People website that we think are helpful:
Step 1: Dreamstorm
Here’s where you get to dream about what you’d loved to put into your bucket list. This dreamstorm is a combination of dreaming and brainstorming. Spend around 10-15 minutes a day making lists that are not based upon what you think is realistic to accomplish. This is dreamtime!
Step 2: Get Inspiration
Find ways to think outside of the box. Go for a walk, watch birds overhead or sing along with a favorite song to see if these actions will help you think about and remember what it is you would love to do.
Step 3: Time List
Can you determine if the items on your bucket list are short or long term? This will help you make plans to get to them.
Step 4: Partner in Joy
Bucket list buddies can be helpful. You can share the items you’ve listed and sometimes you can help inspire and encourage one another to take those leaps. And sometimes you might discover you’ve got similar topics and can share the journey, the memory and the cost!
Step 5: TOP Three
You only need to attempt a few items at a time. Be brave and select three to start with. Yes, you can change your mind and/or adjust the finer points if necessary. But at least you have established your priorities.
Step 6: Never-Ending (One of our most favorite tips)
“This might sound odd, but the goal of your bucket list is not to finish it. It’s to keep it growing. The best lists are constantly changing–you are adding items and checking off items you have completed. Keep the never-ending bucket list mentality to live a regret-free life. See the world through the lens bucket list–what can I savor and celebrate once I have completed an item?”
Bucket lists do matter. They can serve as a compass, pointing you in the right directions for yourself. After all, it is your life. So fill it with what you love!
