Times have changed. Today’s interest in pre-need options reflects that. More people are asking about preplanning choices that not only allow them to keep costs down, but also because they are thinking ahead. For example, family members whose loved ones are in hospice care are taking time now to make final arrangements. This allows for more time to think about what they want to have in a memorial tribute as well as what they seek as a final resting place.
We recently read an article on Legacy.com that explored the changing expectations. While many people wait until the time of need arises, there is an increasing number of people who research their cremation and traditional service choices before that time comes. The article indicated that online sources of information, such as our website list of prices and services are becoming more important.
A Legacy.com survey conducted last year, based upon online inquiries by those planning for themselves or a loved one identified this key observation:
Cremation inquiries and information searches are on the rise. Of those analyzed, interest in cremation was driven in part by cost concerns. Of those people, approximately 45% wanted to find out about basic pricing options without having to first visit a mortuary.
There was also a corresponding increase in interest in prepayment options for traditional services as a means to control costs.
We agree that people should have access to all of the information they need when they need it. This is especially true for those who prefer to ‘shop online’ before making in-person contact. That’s why we maintain a current price sheet and explanation of services on our website. Our staff is prepared to answer your questions and explain further your options whenever you are ready.
